The Mars Underground

For one night only, Professor Brian Cox goes unplugged in a specially recorded programme from the lecture theatre of the Royal Institution of Great Britain. In his own inimitable style, Brian takes an audience of famous faces, scientists and members of the public on a journey through some of the most challenging concepts in physics. With the help of Jonathan Ross, Simon Pegg, Sarah Millican and James May, Brian shows how diamonds - the hardest material in nature - are made up of nothingness; how things can be in an infinite number of places at once; why everything we see or touch in the universe exists; and how a diamond in the heart of London is in communication with the largest diamond in the cosmos.

The story of legendary computer game developer Richard Garriott's spaceflight in October 2008.

Let us take you to one of the most thrilling journeys mankind ever made. Be close witness to the complete mission of both of the Voyager Twins and explore regions mankind never saw before. Even at date the only available material of Uranus and Neptune are the innumerable recordings taken by these probes. All scientific findings made by the Voyager Twins exercised an influence on all following probe missions and actually made them possible.

After decades of amazing discoveries, spacecraft Cassini embarks on its final - and most daring - mission: a dive below Saturn's rings.

Following engineers and scientists on a groundbreaking mission as they build, test and launch the James Webb Space Telescope, the most powerful observatory ever constructed, and discovers the astonishing cosmological mysteries it will investigate.

Computer animation and footage from NASA space missions explain how our solar system evolved and the place Earth has within the system.

A look at the Apollo 11 mission to land on the moon led by commander Neil Armstrong and pilot Buzz Aldrin.

Nichelle Nichols' daunting task to launch a national blitz for NASA, recruiting 8,000 of the nation's best and brightest, including the trailblazing astronauts who became the first African American, Asian and Latino men and women to fly in space.

During the 1995 Summer Institute at The Geometry Center, a team of undergraduates, middle and high school mathematics teachers and Center staff developed curriculum materials supporting The Shape of Space video. The team developed a comprehensive curriculum, covering many areas related to the video. The following materials were selected for distribution based on their direct relevence to understanding the video itself.

The artist Tom Sachs and his team of bricoleurs build a handmade space program and send two female astronauts to Mars

Humanity is constantly pushing its limits... In the field of space exploration, Mars is now the number one objective. Reaching the Red Planet presents immense challenges: which rockets will be capable of traveling such a distance? Can the body adapt to weightlessness for such a long time? Will the crew, in complete isolation, withstand such an ordeal, both physically and mentally? Around the world, the scientific community is trying to find solutions to send the first human to Mars. This documentary invites us to discover the behind-the-scenes story of the greatest expedition of all time.

In this second episode of Symbols of an Alien Sky, David Talbott takes the viewer on an odyssey across the surface of Mars. Exploring feature after feature of the planet, he finds that only electric arcs could produce the observed patterns. The high resolution images reveal massive channels and gouges, great mounds, and crater chains, none finding an explanation in traditional geology, but all matching the scars from electric discharge experiments in the laboratory.

The film mixes sci-fi with a critical approach to current proposals to colonize Mars. Presenting three possible Martian worlds, it was produced using the GPT-3 language processing model and is inspired by space ecology, interplanetary law, non-human sign systems and data science

The first effort to send human beings to the Moon coincides during Christmastime on Earth.

As modern societies rely more on high-speed Internet via satellites, a new space race is reshaping global geopolitics. Elon Musk's Starlink, with over 3,000 satellites, aims to deliver Internet worldwide, sparking concerns about private control. Meanwhile, Jeff Bezos, China, and the EU's Iris project join the competition.

It started with an order to land something on Mars - cheaply. In NASA's new era of "faster, better, cheaper," this mission had to create a radically different way of building a spacecraft. "The Pathfinders" tells the story of a small group of JPL'ers who dismissed warnings that a cut-rate mission to Earth's distant neighbor would cut short their careers. With a Martian parachute that could not be tested in Earth's atmosphere, and the last-minute addition of a remote controlled vehicle that would not look out of place in a toy store, the Pathfinder mission was a doubter's dream. Vet the future prospects of JPL and of a Mars program in its infancy, depended on bouncing successfully onto the rocky Red Planet and releasing a curious six-wheeled wanderer, in hopes of starting a revolution in space exploration.

The special details the events before, during, and after Shatner's life-changing flight - which made him the oldest person to ever travel to the cosmos - and the growing friendship between the Star Trek icon and Blue Origin founder Jeff Bezos, whose dreams of space travel, like many, were inspired by the original Star Trek series.

Hosted by Charlton Heston, it explores the possibility that the Sphinx maybe older than expected. John Anthony West examines that water erosion on the Sphinx can pre-date it to 10,000 years old?. Other mysteries such as how they moved 200 ton stone blocks to build the pyramids, the secret chambers under the Sphinx and the links to the pyramids that are suggested on Mars.

French astronaut Thomas Pesquet recently returned from his expedition to the ISS space station - a veritable laboratory of the future where researchers from all over the world work together. During scientific experiments in space, he investigated how long-term missions, such as to Mars, could become possible.
