Gianni Versace

Against a rich Hollywood backdrop, "Commitment to Life" documents the true story of the fight against HIV/AIDS in Los Angeles - and how an intrepid group of people living with HIV/AIDS, doctors, movie stars, studio moguls and activists changed the course of the epidemic.

A documentary following Christy Turlington and other models during spring fashion week in Milan, Paris and New York.

The world of fashion, between the end of the Sixties and the beginning of the Noughties, had a key character that embodied its spirit and told the tale: journalist Anna Piaggi, living witness of that contamination between art, society and culture that changed fashion and sanctioned its success on a global scale. The daughter of a manager for La Rinascente (Milan's iconic high-end shopping mall whose foundation goes back to 1865), Karl Lagerfeld's muse, "a poet with her clothes" in the words of Bill Cunningham, her life is retraced through interviews with designers (Jean-Charles de Castelbajac, Stephen Jones, Manolo Blahnik, and more) together with archival images from four decades of fashion history.

Filmed in Gianni Versace's mansion in Miami where every object is a separate work of art, this stunning documentary attempts to bring the genius of the Italian fashion giant to life. Through archival material and the confessions of friends and former colleagues, a portrait of a Renaissance designer emerges, a man who never stopped being inspired to create a strictly personal universe of high aesthetics. Indeed, Versace was not only one of the greatest and most influential designers of his time. He was also on the sharp intersection between classic and modern, redefining the way we perceive fashion and clothing.

The Versace story is a family story of glory and tragedy that reads like a glamorous soap opera. In the late 1970s, Gianni Versace founded a small family business that would grow into a global fashion empire with his older brother in charge of the finances and his sister as artistic director. His audacious designs would revolutionise the fashion industry.

The murder of fashion icon Gianni Versace sent detectives into a tireless chase for a serial killer. Expert insights and a deep dive by forensic and legal specialists will explore the mind of Andrew Cunanan.
