Wim Helsen

A contemporary fairy tale about humans and nature, with kings, good guys, bad guys, and young heroes. Thirteen-year-old Robin lives in a world where nature is taboo. Plants are dirty, butterflies are dangerous, and the forest is strictly off-limits. The reign of terror of King Ferdinand and his Bureau for Nature Control (BNC) keeps humans and nature at a safe distance from each other. One day, Robin's mother Marjolein disappears during a mission in the forest. Against her better judgment, Robin ventures into the forest in search of answers. There she meets Wolf, an "enfant sauvage." He seems to know more...

Belgium, 1978. Katja, Roxy, and a group of other lively girls are too young for love, but still they are almost mothers. In a hidden location, pregnant teenage girls await the birth of their babies in secret. Some want to put their mistake behind them as soon as possible, but Katja, herself an orphan, clearly wants something different: she longs to have her own little baby. During the long wait, the girls share each others joys and sorrows. They form close friendships and distract themselves with strange games, until the bubble bursts, and Katja becomes painfully aware of the plans that the nuns are making behind their backs. She is not going to let this happen to her baby

Complete registration of the anniversary theater program, recorded in April 2003 in the Royal Theater Carré in Amsterdam. To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Leids Cabaret Festival, a performance was created with the participation of more than twenty different comedians, including Wim Helsen, Kees Torn, Sanne Wallis de Vries, Erik van Muiswinkel, and many others.

If you're feeling down and you don't really know why. If you want to have a good laugh. If you don't understand much about the world, and even less about people. If you don't get what you think you deserve because they don't see you, the idiots. If you can count on one hand the number of times you've felt free and carefree in the past year. If you want to smash things but don't dare.

Comedian Wim Helsen apologizes for the violence, religious extremism and lousy economy plaguing Europe, then offers a happy panacea for all of it.

Wim Helsen Heden Soup! HOMELESS, KINGS, SAINTS AND COLD WATER FISHING: They all eat soup. Also mistresses love soup. They eat them with spoons, some dip bread in it or slurp on the edge of their soup bowl. One can of doing anything. Tomatoes, leeks, pumpkins, chicken. But loving thoughts, secret messages and mushrooms are allowed. And say nothing of balls. In mysterious faraway places there that make soup from nettles. Dogs bark for soup. One gets it warm from the inside (in his body).

Registration of the sixth solo theatre program by the Flemish comedian Wim Helsen. An absurdist story.

After an introduction in which he reminded us all of our meaningless, shitty lives, there followed an exhilarating hour and a half packed with hilarity, a dismantling of the Jesus myth, emotion, useful tips for the bakery, a few English expressions, Skopja skopja, and above all, Wim Helsen.

Shy loser Diego wakes up after an accident and has been transformed into Tony T. a smooth-talking no-holds-barred stuntman. Suffering from a case of Frontal Syndrome he's the perfect case-study for young neurologist Jaana. Everyone hopes that Diego will soon recover, except for Diego himself.

Award-winning artist Wim Helsen proves in his fifth theater performance that he not only has deep, absurd thoughts, but is also a good listener.

Wim Helsen is always witty, surprising, and pertinent: whether he is expressing his indignation as a good-natured soup distributor in 'Heden Soup!', preaching passion as a cunning demagogue in 'Bij mij zijt ge veilig', or championing better poetry as the Best Friend of Poetry in 'Man Bijt Hond'. Helsen mixes the best of cabaret, theater monologue, and poetry into a disarming individuality, bringing innovation and wonder to the stage.
