Městem chodí Mikuláš

Set in a small-town hospital, the film tells the story of the great suffering of a small rascal, nicknamed “Lies and Steals“, who promises his little partner that he will bring St Nicholas - a traditional figure of Czech Advent - to the hospital room. He fails to keep this promise, his efforts being thwarted several times by the pedantic head nurse, who is called the Old Goat. In the course of the plot, the strained relationships between the three adults - the alcoholic Dr. Koníček, the head nurse and the young nurse Pipka - are revealed, all burdened with various resentments, false illusions and disappointed hopes. Despite all the conflicts, and as if by a miracle, there is a kind moment of extraordinary emotional understanding at the end, and Nicholas finally appears in the hospital.

Mlsné medvědí příběhy: Na pól!

Inseparable bear friends, big Nedvěd and little Miška, return to the big screen in a brand new polar adventure. This time, the furry friends with perpetually hungry bellies decide not to hibernate and, at the invitation of a polar bear, set off for an ice cream festival at the distant pole. Along the way, they meet and help each other with new animal friends from different corners of the world. Will they manage to find the pole and taste the delicious popsicles? After their challenging journey, the sweet-toothed Nedvěd and Miška reminisce about the best moments from the bear series – what it was like when they craved potato pancakes, the first-class deer chef, the unexpected visit from Mojmír the bat, and what happened when they picked all the plums from the animals' orchard. There are also cheerful songs that you won't be able to get out of your head and a recipe for unique homemade ice cream. Nanukům brum!

The distinctive artist, typographer, and writer Josef Váchal is known to the public primarily for his Blood Novel. The surrealistic exuberance of this defense of 19th-century pulp fiction caught the attention of Jaroslav Brabec and his colleagues, who found a corresponding image of 20th-century "trash." The authors' interest focuses primarily on the silent film era, with a journey through the history of cinema continuing through the advent of sound film to the present day (auteur cinema of the 1960s, modern horror), formally employing techniques such as tinted film. The versatile parody intertwines a colorful plot with the story of the author (Váchal/Paseky), who comments on and creates his book, and is further split in the plot into the characters of Fragonard and the Master. As with Váchal, reality increasingly enters the fiction, so that the only "happy ending" turns out to be the artist's finished work.

Hrdý Budžes

A recording of the theatrical adaptation of Irena Dousková's bestseller, starring Bára Hrzánová in the lead role. A few years ago, few people could have guessed how popular Irena Dousková's slim book with the somewhat mysterious title "Hrdý Budžes" would become. The stories of Helenka Součková, a second-grade elementary school student suffering from pensiveness and obesity, and, by extension, the onset of Husák's normalization, take place in the then party stronghold of Příbram, known for its uranium mining. It was therefore logical that the Příbram theater would bring Helenka's stories to the stage. And, as it turned out, it found a brilliant actress to play the main character. Bára Hrzánová was awarded the 2003 Thalia Prize for this role, and the television recording of the theatrical production became a real hit with viewers, as did the performance itself and Irena Dousková's book.

The fairy tale tells the story of a royal couple who cannot have children. With the help of a magical prop, they finally succeed, but in double measure. They give birth to twins. Which prop is responsible for this? Well, take a guess, or better yet, take another look at the title of the fairy tale. When the boys grow up and one of them is supposed to take over the joys and responsibilities of ruling, an unsolvable problem arises: should it be Vojta or František? We won't reveal the plot with all its twists and turns, but one thing is certain: the boys set out into the world with the understanding that the one who can perform the greater heroic deed will become king. The princes, even though they are not exactly cut out for it, take on the task with all their vigor and responsibility.
