In 1962, spurred by the Cold War, President John F. Kennedy famously made the bold proclamation that NASA would send astronauts to the moon by the end of the decade, not because it was easy, but because it was a challenge. The Space Race inspired a generation to pursue careers in science and technology, but as the balance of world power shifted, interest in space exploration declined. "Fight for Space" serves as an urgent call to re-awaken our sense of wonder and discovery.

When the world was in turmoil, three men went faster and farther than anyone thought possible. This is the story of the first people to leave the Earth and travel to the Moon — this is Apollo 8. Through restored archival films and audio, Apollo 8 astronauts Frank Borman, Jim Lovell, and Bill Anders tell you in their own words how their three different stories got them into the same tiny capsule pointed at the Moon — and what happened next.

At the heart of the Apollo program was the special team in Mission Control who put a man on the moon and helped create the future.

In the mid-1960's, after the success of Project Mercury, the need to master long-duration missions and extravehicular activity resulted in Project Gemini, which provided the seasoning in men and machines that led to the first American spacewalk... and paved the way for ultimate victory in the race to the Moon. This 3-disc set chronicles America's bold new program with comprehensive footage from the film and videotape records of Project Gemini. Includes original Project Gemini documentary, complete 16mm onboard film from all the flights, footage from each mission preparation, launch and recovery. With rare bonus footage of the Gemini spacecraft, Titan launch vehicle, crew training activities and more. Runtime is over 6 hours. NOTE: Some of the tracks do not contain audio.

A lighthearted look at life's heavy questions. Co-director and historian Jonathan Mann guides us during this documentary on a thoughtful and whimsical journey as he asks, "What's the point of it all?" while searching for meaning in the face of the inevitable.

Apollo 13: To the Edge and Back tells the gripping, true story of the catastrophic flight of the Apollo 13 and the heroic struggle to bring the astronauts back alive. With first-hand accounts from the pilots, their families, and the people of mission control, it documents a thrilling struggle against time and all odds and serves as a reminder that, in the words of James Lovell, "We do not realize what we have on Earth until we leave it."

Twin astronauts Scott and Mark Kelly were separated for almost a year, undergoing intensive measurements when one was in space and one was on Earth. But that was only the beginning of their scientific odyssey. "Beyond A Year in Space," PBS and Time's follow-up documentary to last year's — which followed Scott Kelly from launch to landing — chronicles Kelly's return to life on Earth and the extensive medical testing the duo undergo to determine exactly what changes have occurred as a result of his record-breaking stay on the International Space Station. The documentary also follows two new astronauts, Jessica Meir and Victor Glover, training to go even further.

DOOMED MISSION: THE TRUE STORY OF APOLLO 13 is also the story of the highs and lows of the Apollo Space program. In man's quest to explore distant planets, many risks had to be taken. Some lives were lost in tragic accidents. On April 11, 1970, at 13:13 module after a military time the 13th Apollo 13 Mission was launched. On April 13th, at 9:07 p.m. oxygen tank two explodes. Minutes after the explosion, the crew evacuates the spacecraft and boards the lunar module. This tiny module has air for 2 men for 2 days. Now there are 3 men aboard and they are four days from home! Although the mission is a failure, the incredible rescue of the astronauts from certain death is one of the most exciting true stories ever told.
