Police officers Kessel and Driller are supposed to be on the lookout for an internationally wanted war criminal. But Kessel is a junkie, gets into a fight with a young dealer and runs the man over. They combine the fact that one of their husbands was involved in the robbery of a money transport and hid the loot in a mine shaft. The women decide to start a new life, but are unaware that they are embarking on a dangerous game of cat and mouse underground.
