The Blue Exile
4.6

Mavi Sürgün is a fictionalized account of one period of the life of a Turkish journalist who was condemned to exile for an article he wrote in 1925. He turned his punishment into a reward by creating a little paradise in what is today the holiday resort, Bodrum. In fact he is considered by some to be the first ecologist. The film concentrates on this latter aspect of his character and through flashbacks portrays the inner turmoil of a man who is trying to come to terms with his past. The slow pace is somewhat of a drawback, the flashbacks are often confusing and the protagonist is not always very convincing. But the photography of the country side is exceptional Kenan Ormanlar and the short appearance by a very theatrical Hanna Schygulla of Fassbinder fame adds a little spice to the drama.

Elisa

Following a nuclear war, life on Earth has all but come to an end. Solisvita has placed a small group in an ancient cavern—equipped with a 180-day supply of water and provisions—tasking them with locating a rare "ore" essential for producing "Geneterna," a treatment designed to grant humans genetic immunity to radiation. Once the mission is complete, they are to be relocated to protected "Fortress Cities." However, communication with headquarters is severed, their water supply is running dangerously low, and with only eight days left in the mission, Emre—the project lead—takes his own life. Meanwhile, a mysterious stranger arrives at their door, sharing legends that hint at a hidden water source deep within the cavern. As trust begins to unravel, each member of the group is forced to confront the true cost of survival and the real nature of Solisvita—the organization they once believed to be their savior.

Dead Bee Sting

The story follows a tragic sequence of events that begins when Yusuf, a successful lawyer, loses his infant child due to a mistake. In the aftermath, Yusuf experiences an internal collapse, burdened by profound remorse and guilt, while his wife, Ayşe, falls into a deep depression—pushing their marriage to the brink of a major crisis. The film explores the weight of conscience by drawing a metaphorical parallel between the tragic fate of the deceased infant and a "dead bee," which serves as a symbol for lost innocence and inner suffering. Centered on themes of tragedy, loss, and guilt, the narrative unfolds as a journey of internal transformation; the characters must confront their own inner worlds, seek to forgive one another, and attempt to rebuild their lives in the wake of their pain, ultimately searching for the possibility of absolution.
