A French housekeeper with a mysterious past brings quiet revolution in the form of one exquisite meal to a circle of starkly pious villagers in late 19th century Denmark.

Hopeless romantic Gertrud inhabits a turn-of-the-century milieu of artists and musicians, where she pursues an idealized notion of love that will always elude her. She abandons her distinguished husband and embraces an affair with a young concert pianist, who falls short of her desire for lasting affection. On the indebted estate, Gyldenstrup, lives a spoiled and selfish lady, Mrs. Selstrup, with her two spoiled and selfish children, Ellen and Joachim. When Ole tells Uncle Frederik that they don't want to be with him anymore, Frederik unfortunately has to tell them that he has ruined their fortune. When Ole gets home, he learns that Jytte is pregnant. This changes their lives to a great extent - Jytte and Ole have suddenly found meaning in life.

A gentle comedy offering the promise of easy social consensus. Harry (Helmuth) is a simple old-time shop porter offered a chance at self-realisation when he's bequeathed a sum by an unknown relative (via several levels of fiscal blood suckers). He decides to engage a butler to take good care of him for a time. This is a man of distinguished upper class service, but a generous nature which happily integrates with Harry's small but colourful world of drinking buddies and crackpot neighbourhood kids.

Jealousy and madness flare into a firework display of toxicity when ex-primadonna Lotta Henderson (Birgitte Federspiel) moves in. A slap in the face of The Set's leading star in her own eyes, May Davenport (Mime Fønss), who has had a lifelong rivalry with Lotta both on stage and off. The daily dramas reach dizzying heights when a scandalous journalist (Anne Marie Helger) gains access like a wolf in sheep's clothing. A stunt that has a not-so-clever connection to the ladies' burning desire to be granted a veranda. The matter is raised to the highest level of the home's tough board of directors, and The Set's secretary Perry (Holger Juul Hansen) comes under justified suspicion of skulduggery. But this is where May Davenport's diva talent comes in as a sure trump card...

Her little son is to be looked after by her sister. The couple who cannot have children have just adopted the little boy's sister and now come to buy the pram.

Paul a young, newlywed writer returns home from abroad with his sweet, young wife, Anna, whom he has met in the South of France. After their honeymoon Poul is looking forward to start his new job as a screenwriter.

Rowly's is one of London's largest stores. Thousands of customers throng the store's stairs and elevators day after day. The gold stream flows incessantly through all the store's offices and rooms, finally ending up in the Rowlys' bank. But the Rowly family has become poor in members - there is only one left, twelve-year-old John. Despite his wealth, he has no control over his person. He has to obey Aunt Fanny.

Søndreø is a small, peaceful island in one of Denmark's fjords, owned and run by the old farmer Lars Søndervold and his son Søren. But times are hard, and everything is not going as it should. The greedy, bragging merchant Anders Lundrup has used all means to gain possession of the island, and one fine day Søren and his old father must leave their ancestral farm and the island. Søren swears an expensive oath - he will earn so much money that he can one day buy the farm and the island back, and at the same time he swears revenge on Anders Lundrup.

The action takes place in the bleak, overcrowded, and for many too small apartments in one of Copenhagen's bridge districts, where there are both good citizens, but also people who live a shadowy existence. Up in the attic, Mathilde lives alone with her little daughter Vibeke. She is the result of a coincidence, as is so often the case when a young girl from the provinces comes to the Capital. Mathilde comes from Vordingborg, she went to the city to look for work. At the boarding house where she stayed, she made a friend Ellen, a rather frivolous and indifferent young girl.

A film about a doctor in a small idyllic town. He's an honest man who wants his patients best, but fewer and fewer visitors comes to his practice and that frustrates the doctor. A 'quack doctor' is taking his business.

An amateur photographer has accidentally captured something special in a landscape photo from Sweden, something that an alert journalist could turn into a good story. Something that looks like a troll. The magazine, seeing an opportunity for a snappy report, funds an expedition to the supposed troll's lair, and in addition to the photographer and journalist, a skeptical folklorist joins the trip.

"Naalen" is the title character in the film, a ruthless black market kingpin whose wake inevitably follows a series of other crimes. How "Naalen" got his strange nickname will not be revealed here, but it can be hinted that it has a close connection to the precious and rare commodity he deals in his "business": insulin.

The two leading actors form a team traveling round performing as a professional dancing couple who has difficulty making ends meet. Ebbe Rode is the dreamer and Bodil Kjer the down to earth realist. Bodil Kjer expands her image to encompass the disillusioned woman reflecting the hard life she has gone through. Ebbe Rodes disappointed optimism turn into violence with dramatic consequences.

Many people are preparing their lives for a lifetime, to make it safe and secure. And then the fate's game of 24 hours can overturn everything.

Taking place on a small villa road: The two neighbors Gormsen and Sandelund have been at a dispute for years and this evolves into an all out war. Sandelund is a wholesale dealer in meet, a capitalist and has one of this modem houses with a flat roof. Gormsen is a dentist, and a communist, he has a new wife that are younger then his son, and lives in one of these old-fashioned half-timbered houses. A third factor is the merchant Krause. To begin with he is a small time grocer and progresses into the end, a big time businessman. He is a deeply religious man, a good Christian, and member of the parochial church council. There children, (teenagers) find their conflict silly and stupid.

The small, diligent chorus girl Dolly Hansen is engaged at one of the city's big revue theaters, and one evening she has to step in and double for the prima donna who has called in sick. She is successful, and this gives her the courage to ask the director for a small salary increase. However, this is taken very unkindly, and such a heated discussion arises between them that the young girl suddenly finds herself in the street, fired on grey paper. But Dolly is not the type to give up. Untraditional self-centeredness soon creates a lot of attention around her.

Engineer Rolf Swedenhielm is one of Sweden's most distinguished scientists, a festive and original person, and at the same time a man with an unwavering sense of honor. His home is managed by his sister-in-law Boman, who runs the household for him and his three children. After a lifetime of dedication to science, Swedenhielm is finally about to reap the rewards of his triumph: he is nominated for the Nobel Prize. Confusion arises about the nomination—is it a case of fraud?

Theatre painter Harry Gelinde and his wife, Klara, are happy with each other and their children, Vippe, Kalle, Sutte, Nisse, Bolle and Finne. Gelinde is a carefree artist. He knows he is no Rembrandt, but he loves art in his own quiet way - and he does not compromise. When Klara is invited on a trip by her friends, Harry takes on the responsibility of all the children. They turn their home into an Indian camp - and enjoy it to the fullest. At the same time, it is a wonderful break for Gelinde, who has a dispute with the director at the theatre.
