A man disappears on the same day he makes his fortune in this re-imagining of a true story, which is still unsolved. In this version of the disappearance of Ambrose Small, the setting has been changed from Toronto, 1919, to Chicago of the same year. Gorgeous cinematography in mostly black and white underscores the racial tensions of the time, while intentional anachronisms and Calgary-raised director Daniel Nearing’s postmodern vision give the film an otherworldly quality. While the investigation of Small’s case is a central device, Nearing’s real objective is to expose the characters of the time and stoke the flames of mystery.
A comedy writer's need for approval leads him to a wonder elixir that bends his world into a surreal landscape of comedy tropes, which forces him to explore his own worth outside the writer's room.
A group of childhood friends reunite, and while taking a trip together - encounter a magical force that awakens within them a deeper understanding of the world and each other.
A sublime comedy of biting humor and unusual schemes that paints a satirical portrait of millennials and hipsters who think they’re benefitting their community. But good intentions do not always have good consequences.
An animated film that explores the "four hijabs:" the visual (actual fabric worn), spatial (imposed limitations and segregation), ethical (restrictions of women's rights) and spiritual (denial of intellectual inquiry) through an Arab-Muslim feminist lens.
