Day of the Full Moon
4.8

Day of the Full Moon, a series of vignettes from Russia past and present, summons the spirit of Ophuls’ La Ronde, Altman’s Nashville and Short Cuts, and the time-shifting strategies of Resnais (Mon Oncle d’Amérique) to tell provocative, connected stories illustrating the waltz of years and whim of memory. In 1948, a young man, a boy, and a waiter are captivated during the full moon by a mysterious woman in a lilac dress. The effects of this event ripple across the years, washing over more than 80 characters, including a disc jockey, a fairy princess, a gangster, Alexander Pushkin, and a nostalgic dog. But which of these are dreams, and which reality? Director Shakhnazarov continues his career-long focus on the intersection of past and present with this mysterious, exhilarating mosaic of humankind, which in the end both seduces and satisfies.

The Faberge Egg
4.0

In childhood, everyone wants - “when they grow up” - to become stars or world champions, generals or models, rich bums or simple astronauts. No one dreams of a career as a vacuum cleaner or scavenger. But fate has its own plans. Two childhood friends meet at the bottom of their lives. One is a loser actor who sniffs Chinese frying pans for grandmothers. The second is a gopnik from the district, has not dried up since the days of vocational school. And suddenly they have a chance to break out of the quagmire and make their dreams come true! To do this, you just need to steal a Faberge egg from the local museum of local lore. The customer of the daring robbery is a descendant of that same Faberge, and he has his own dream: to return the relic to the family. And everything could have gone well, only one of the friends falls in love with the wife of the other.

Life Syndrome

Elizaveta Petrovna had just buried her husband, with whom she had lived all her life. The only daughter and the only grandson - that's the whole family, whose life was largely determined by the deceased. In the process of parsing her husband's things, she discovers a letter from her husband. It contains a secret that the head of the family kept from Elizabeth Petrovna for several decades, the story of his French love and a child born out of wedlock. The woman is trying to tell her daughter Valeria about this, but she has her own problems and interests, "not up to it." What to say about the grandson who lives in a separate, separate reality. It seems that in this family it is simply not customary to listen, let alone hear each other. But gradually, family members, each experiencing grief in their own way, find common ground.
