John Robins

Rising to fame amid the 1980s alternative comedy boom, Ian Cognito was one of the UK's most popular comedians. His performances left audiences in hysterics - but behind the laughter was a troubled and often controversial figure. This is the story of the comedy scene that nurtured a comedic genius, and the real life of a man famed for his outlandish sense of humour.

As a content moderator, Annabel patrols the internet for evil. So must contend with a steady stream of unrelenting bile, fed directly into her eyeballs. Luckily, she bonds with her melancholic colleague, AJ, over an illicit rooftop vape session. But after watching a particularly gruesome acid attack film, she spots AJ across the room and, before she has a moment to think, they are having sex in the wellness room. So they quickly fall into a habit - and gradually become addicted to the pattern of trauma followed by the ecstatic relief of sex.

A stand-up routine that provides a candid view into the breakdown of John's long-term relationship. One of the winners of the 2017 Edinburgh Comedy Award.
