Liliana Herrero

Argentina continues Saura’s lyrical exploration of the essence, talent and patrimony of popular dance and song in both fiction and documentary

A human tragedy on the backdrop of a legal and medical scandal which in 2007 lead to legal action against the Argentinean state before the UN Human Rights Commission and a verdict of guilty in 2011. The mentally and physically handicapped 16-year-old girl Laura had been raped by her uncle in 2006. But a legal abortion which had already been officially granted at the request of her mother, Vicenta, was opposed by lawyers and doctors.

A film that tells the life story of women searching for their kidnapped and disappeared grandchildren, whom they never met and for whom they have been searching and searching for for more than 40 years. In the film, the Grandmothers of Plaza de Mayo tell their story in first-person detail, emphasizing the fact that they were simple women whose lives changed forever and who experienced something exceptional (exceptionally horrific). Together, for more than 40 years, they have worked every day to recover their grandchildren and return their true identities.

Liliana Herrero and Horacio González talk in the intimacy of their own home. The conversation about the versions of songs by Fito Páez recorded by Liliana for her latest album leads to deep and beautiful reflections.
