The Cars perform songs from their debut album, The Cars (1978), with some exclusive footage featuring performances of songs such as "Just What I Needed," "Good Times Roll," "My Best Friend's Girl," and many more. Hosted by Pete Drummond at the University of Sussex.

The Cars were on the cutting edge when it came to music videos. And this Heartbeat City video compilation, with songs from three of the band's most successful CDs, is no exception. Inspired by their 1984 platinum-selling album this sight-and-sound spectacular includes extensive video clips and performance footage not available on TV. A combination of innovative production techniques and The Cars' own inimitable Pop Art style makes this video compilation a fitting showcase for one of the most unique rock-'n'-roll bands in America.

his video features a live performance of The Cars, made during their only tour of Europe. Filmed in 1979, the concert took place in Germany, and was shot at Radio Bremen Studios for the German television show Musikladen. Music from the band's first two albums are showcased, including signature tunes like "Let the Good Times Roll", and "Don't Cha Stop". Another highlight is the inclusion of "Take What You Want", which was never recorded for album release, but was a favorite on their American concert tours. The DVD version of the video also contains a lengthy interview with all five band members, together for the first time in 13 year.

Featuring over twenty never-before-seen live performances from their sold-out U.S. tours, interview footage, sound checks, slide shows, backstage antics, and home video shot by the band, this limited edition set is your key to unlock The Cars.
