Zagreb, 1945. The communist partisans emerge victorious in the Balkan branch of the the conflicts that made up The Second World War. With vengeance in their hearts, they force the remaining soldiers of the Axis Power-adjacent ustaše and the Croatian Home Guard and force them in a march towards the Bleiburg field in Austria, leaving them without food or water and in a constant cycle of walking for days on end.

Wanting to escape the clutches of Zagreb's loan sharks, the host of a popular children's variety show takes on an assignment to go to perform in refugee camps nearby the city of Gospić. He's joined by Vrabac, his ten-year-old neighbor on the run from his violent older brother, and Tina, a young woman desperately seeking for fame and fortune.

However, what they don't know is that the canyon they've picked as their play area, serves as the hiding spot of three ruthless Serbian chetniks, who had recently escaped from the nearby prison.
