A few years later, when Anna returns, she learns of the death of her daughter's adoptive parents and takes her in. She also meets Stefanos, who has since overcome his financial difficulties, and together they realize that the main reason for their separation was their social environment, as well as a temporary and human, but nevertheless fatal, weakness.
