Carl Erskine

Gilbert Wooley is a second-rate magician who is sent to entertain the troops in the pacific. During his time in Japan he becomes attached to a little orphan boy.

A film adaptation of The Boys of Summer by Roger Kahn, this documentary, hosted by comedian Sid Caesar, a Brooklyn boy and lifelong Brooklyn Dodgers fan, dates from 1983. While it discusses the exploits of the team in their grandest era, THE BOYS OF SUMMER focuses more importantly on the team members' lives since the end of The Era.

Composed entirely of never-before-seen 8mm and 16mm footage filmed between 1925 and 1961 by baseball players, their families and their fans, this second chapter in the HBO series "When It Was a Game" brings many lost moments to life. Narrated by Peter Kessler, the documentary features clips of Joe DiMaggio, Ty Cobb, Roy Campanella, Jackie Robinson, Hank Aaron, Willie Mays, Satchel Paige, Tommy Lasorda and Babe Ruth.

This documentary chronicles the 1955 World Series between the Brooklyn Dodgers and the New York Yankees and is based on the poem "1955" by James T. Crawford.

From the dirt-poor alleys of Anderson, Indiana, to a record-breaking career on a legendary team on the grandest stage in sports, Carl Erskine has lived the American dream — and spent a lifetime giving it to others. His life as a famed Brooklyn Dodger and human rights advocate is featured in this inspiring new documentary.
