In 1984 East Berlin, dedicated Stasi officer Gerd Wiesler begins spying on a famous playwright and his actress-lover Christa-Maria. Wiesler becomes unexpectedly sympathetic to the couple, and faces conflicting loyalties when his superior takes a liking to Christa-Maria.

Until now, Carlo thought he was living a quiet, manageable life. And he seemed content with his "small world". But somehow, things have not been running smoothly in Carlo's life for a few weeks now. At home, problems are emerging with his son Hendrik and wife Jutta. His now somewhat outdated garage, which he has been running for 30 years, is hardly generating any orders, and even his tortoise Adenauer is giving him grief because she has stopped eating. And now? Carlo has no intention of letting his long-serving employees Becker, Roger and Köll go, because they are more than just his employees. They are his best friends, without whom Carlo's life would really no longer be possible.

Silvi is in her late forties. Her husband has just left her. Until this point, she was fairly content with her life, but now everything is in ruins. A friend advises her to make a fresh start. But how is that supposed to work? Especially if you see yourself as a team player and there’s no team in sight you would want to join. Driven by a sense of longing, helplessness and curiosity, Silvi tries to make new friends and, in her own, touchingly earnest but also naïve and charmingly uninhibited way, starts to take control of her life. Anonymous sex, cosy romanticism and bondage games catapult her from one emotional disaster to the next. But, thankfully, Silvi is indestructible.

With Mike it's anything but round: flat away, job a one-way street, and to make matters worse, his little loser heart still beats for ex-wife Claudia.
